All-fun-inclusive resort complex by the Xcaret parks, with rivers, coves and dozens of dramatic ceremony spots between jungle and sea.
Hotel Xcaret México is unlike any other resort on this coast: an all-fun-inclusive complex built around underground rivers, natural coves and the Xcaret parks, with more distinct ceremony settings than most couples can visit in a single day. I have photographed five weddings here, on the beach, in the coves and at the foot of the Xpiral. Its adults-only sister, Hotel Xcaret Arte, has its own guide.
The abundance is also the challenge. Xcaret is large, and the spots that make the gallery unforgettable — the coves, the rivers, the stone arches over the water — are not next to the suites. A timeline that ignores the distances produces a rushed day. One that plans for them produces the widest-ranging wedding gallery in the Riviera Maya.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Playa Palmers
Beach ceremony location used for a wedding here. The open Caribbean setting gives strong water color but is exposed to direct light and wind.
Caleta Fuego
Cove/event setting used for both cocktail hour and reception in a April wedding here. The surrounding rock, water and vegetation give more visual depth and earlier shade than an open beach.
Todos los Ángeles Chapel
Hilltop chapel with a 180-degree sea view, one of the property's signature ceremony locations.
Guadalupe Chapel
Chapel inside a cenote with a dramatic carved Virgin and underground/natural-rock character. Light is much more controlled and architectural than the open-air venues.
Las Cuevas
Natural-rock ballroom/event setting integrated into caves. Strong option for a celebration that feels distinctly Xcaret rather than like a standard resort ballroom.
Hacienda Henequenera
Hacienda-style event setting inside the Xcaret destination complex, useful for couples wanting architectural/color contrast to the beach and cenote locations.
The Xpiral
The stepped stone pyramid at the centre of the property. Ceremonies happen on the terrace at its base, against the stone and the orange lattice.
Rivers, bridges and stone arches
Turquoise water, suspension bridges and rock arches over the water. This is where I take couples for portraits between the ceremony and the reception.
The coves
Small sandy coves with rock walls, and one with a waterfall. Some couples marry there, and most receptions I have photographed here were in a cove, under string lights.

First look — yes or no?
Strongly recommended. Xcaret has more photo locations than time allows, and a first look effectively adds a second portrait session to the day — letting us use the coves or the caves before the ceremony and keep the golden hour for the beach.
Logistics worth knowing
Hotel Xcaret is large, but it is not a golf-cart resort. Because of how the hotel is built, guests cannot use carts; they walk the paths along the rivers. On the wedding day the bride is taken to the ceremony by cart, and the trajineras on the rivers can carry the party between some spaces. Ceremony, portraits and reception can be far apart, so the timeline is built around the exact spaces you book. At an April wedding here, getting ready was in the suites, the ceremony at Playa Palmers at 5:00 p.m., and cocktail hour and reception at Caleta Fuego. I have photographed five weddings here, so I know where those distances are.
Vendor rules at Hotel Xcaret México
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Outside photographers are accepted. Kristina has photographed five weddings here. Current specialist wedding guides report that the outside-vendor fee may be waived when the vendor stays at least three nights inside the wedding room block. Treat that waiver as contract-specific and confirm it directly with Xcaret.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Hotel Xcaret México is on the Caribbean side, so the open ocean is the sunrise direction and sunset falls inland. Protect the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits. Remember that Xcaret's rock formations, caves, jungle and coves can lose direct light earlier than an open beach. I check the sunset for your exact date before we fix the ceremony time.

Questions couples ask about Hotel Xcaret México
Can we bring our own photographer to Hotel Xcaret?
Yes. I have photographed five weddings here as an outside photographer. The resort registers outside vendors through the wedding team, so your coordinator will ask for our details in advance.
Is there an outside photographer fee?
Xcaret does not publish a photographer fee on its public wedding page, and the amounts reported by planning guides vary widely between properties and contracts. The resort sets it, collects it and revises it, so we do not publish an amount: any figure would already be old for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator to confirm it in writing.
Can the photographer stay at the hotel instead of paying the vendor fee?
Current specialist wedding guides report that vendors staying at least three nights inside the wedding room block can have the outside-vendor fee waived. Ask Xcaret to confirm that this applies to your specific wedding contract before booking the room.
Which Xcaret locations have you photographed?
Five weddings: on the beach at Playa Palmers, in the coves (Caleta Fuego among them) and at the foot of the Xpiral. Portraits usually happen along the rivers, on the suspension bridges and under the stone arches over the water.
Does the ocean face sunset?
No. The Caribbean side is the sunrise direction. Xcaret's coves, rock formations and elevated architecture can still give beautiful late-afternoon light, but plan around the exact venue and how quickly surrounding structures create shade.
Hotel Xcaret México or Xcaret Arte?
México is family-friendly and Arte is adults-only, for guests 16 and over. If children are invited, the wedding is usually planned at México. Arte feels quieter and more art-led, and it has its own guide on this site. Confirm the guest rules for your date with the coordinator.
How do we get around on the wedding day?
On foot, along the river paths. Guests cannot use golf carts here. The bride is taken to the ceremony by cart, and the boats on the rivers can carry the party between some spaces.
Where do brides get ready at Hotel Xcaret?
In their own suite. The suites have balconies over the rivers, the jungle or the sea, and the light is good. The newlyweds’ suite is not included in the wedding packages, so plan the getting ready in your own room.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at Hotel Xcaret?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film. Most couples marrying at Hotel Xcaret México book 6-8 hours, so the coverage reaches from getting ready to the party. Travel to this venue is included or minimal, we are local. How much time do photos need at Hotel Xcaret?
More than at a compact venue. The hotel is large and guests walk between spaces, so moving between the suites, the ceremony and the best photo locations takes real time. I build those walks into the timeline so nothing feels rushed. With six to eight hours of coverage, the day has room for the coves, the rivers and the golden hour.
