All-fun-inclusive resort complex by the Xcaret parks, with rivers, coves and dozens of dramatic ceremony spots between jungle and sea.
Hotel Xcaret México and its sister property Hotel Xcaret Arte are unlike any other resort on this coast: an all-fun-inclusive complex built around underground rivers, natural coves and the Xcaret parks, with more distinct ceremony settings than most couples can visit in a single day. We have photographed more weddings here than at any other single property — beach coves, the chapel, river decks and the art-themed spaces at Arte.
The abundance is also the challenge. Xcaret is enormous, moving between locations is done by golf cart, and the spots that make the gallery unforgettable — the caves, the coves, the rivers — are the ones furthest from the suites. A timeline that ignores that reality produces a rushed day; one that plans for it produces the widest-ranging wedding gallery available in Riviera Maya.

Playa Palmers
Beach ceremony location used for a wedding here. The open Caribbean setting gives strong water color but is exposed to direct light and wind.
Caleta Fuego
Cove/event setting used for both cocktail hour and reception in a April wedding here. The surrounding rock, water and vegetation give more visual depth and earlier shade than an open beach.
Todos los Ángeles Chapel
Hilltop chapel with a 180-degree sea view, one of the property's signature ceremony locations.
Guadalupe Chapel
Chapel inside a cenote with a dramatic carved Virgin and underground/natural-rock character. Light is much more controlled and architectural than the open-air venues.
Las Cuevas
Natural-rock ballroom/event setting integrated into caves. Strong option for a celebration that feels distinctly Xcaret rather than like a standard resort ballroom.
Hacienda Henequenera
Hacienda-style event setting inside the Xcaret destination complex, useful for couples wanting architectural/color contrast to the beach and cenote locations.

First look — yes or no?
Strongly recommended. Xcaret has more photo locations than time allows, and a first look effectively adds a second portrait session to the day — letting us use the coves or the caves before the ceremony and keep the golden hour for the beach.
Logistics worth knowing
Hotel Xcaret weddings can span beach, cove, chapel, cave and park locations, so travel time between spaces matters more here than at a compact resort. Build the photography timeline around the exact contracted locations, not only the ceremony time. At a wedding here, getting ready took place in guest rooms, the ceremony was at Playa Palmers at 5:00 p.m., cocktail hour at Caleta Fuego at 6:00 p.m. and reception at Caleta Fuego at 7:00 p.m. The resort also arranged a separate vendor/employee meal for the photographer.
Vendor rules at Hotel Xcaret México / Hotel Xcaret Arte
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Outside photographers are accepted. Kristina has photographed a wedding here. Current specialist wedding guides report that the outside-vendor fee may be waived when the vendor stays at least three nights inside the wedding room block. Treat that waiver as contract-specific and confirm it directly with Xcaret.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Hotel Xcaret México and Xcaret Arte are on the Caribbean side, so the open ocean is the sunrise direction and sunset falls inland. Protect the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits, but remember that Xcaret's rock formations, caves, jungle and coves can lose direct light earlier than an open beach. In Playa del Carmen, April 13 sunset is around 7:06 p.m. in the 2026 seasonal pattern. A 5:00 p.m. ceremony like a April wedding here leaves useful time for portraits before cocktail and reception.

Is there an outside photographer fee?
Xcaret does not publish a photographer fee on its public wedding page, and the amounts reported by planning guides vary widely between properties and contracts. The resort sets it, collects it and revises it, so we do not publish an amount: any figure would already be old for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator to confirm it in writing.
Can the photographer stay at the hotel instead of paying the vendor fee?
Current specialist wedding guides report that vendors staying at least three nights inside the wedding room block can have the outside-vendor fee waived. Ask Xcaret to confirm that this applies to your specific wedding contract before booking the room.

Is Hotel Xcaret easy to photograph in one continuous timeline?
It can be, but location choices matter. Beaches, chapels, coves, caves and park venues can be separated from one another, so transit and guest movement need to be built into the photography schedule.
Does the ocean face sunset?
No. The Caribbean side is the sunrise direction. Xcaret's coves, rock formations and elevated architecture can still give beautiful late-afternoon light, but plan around the exact venue and how quickly surrounding structures create shade.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at Hotel Xcaret?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film.
