Royalton Riviera Cancun Wedding Photographer
Large modern all-inclusive resort in Puerto Morelos, between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, with high-capacity venues from beach to ballroom.
Royalton Riviera Cancun is one of the largest modern resorts in Puerto Morelos, about 20 minutes from Cancun airport. It is built for weddings at scale, with a beach for up to 300 guests, a ballroom for nearly 500 and dedicated South Asian packages.
The weddings I have photographed here show two very different settings. One ceremony was on the Sky Wedding rooftop, a wooden deck with stone columns, white fabric and the sea behind it. Another was under the Ocean View Gazebo, a modern lattice of dark slats facing the water. Between them, I photographed portraits on the beach, in the gardens among the palms and in the lobby.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Beach
Listed for up to 300 guests for a ceremony, cocktail hour or reception. It gives the direct Caribbean background, and it is fully exposed to sun and wind.
Ocean View Gazebo
A modern gazebo of dark angled slats facing the sea, listed for about 80 guests. The slats throw striped shadows across faces when the sun is high, so a later ceremony photographs much better here.
Sky Wedding Rooftop
A rooftop deck with stone columns, white fabric and the sea behind it, listed for about 90 guests. One of our ceremonies here was on this deck, and the dinner stayed up on the rooftop with the view.
Gardens and palms
Sandy paths, palms and tropical planting between the buildings, with hammocks here and there. This is where I take most of the couple and wedding-party portraits.
Lobby
Bright, modern interiors with gold sculptural art. A good place for portraits while the sun is still strong outside.
Agave and Grazie terraces
Outdoor terraces for a smaller ceremony or reception, listed for about 100 to 120 guests.
Ballroom
The indoor reception space, listed for nearly 500 guests. Also the rain plan for a large wedding.

Ranges, not quotes: each source publishes a slightly different 2026 rate. Extra guests are charged per person, and the Luxury Wedding can be free with a qualifying number of room nights. Some venues, such as the Ocean View Gazebo, carry their own venue fee. Confirm everything with the resort’s wedding team, in writing, for your date.

Recommended. On a resort this size, a first look in the gardens secures the portraits early and leaves the last light for the rooftop or the shoreline.
Logistics worth knowing
Royalton's official resort page places Cancun International Airport about 15 to 20 minutes away by car. The resort is large: guests describe 15 to 20 minutes on foot from one side to the other, and golf carts help. Build transfer time into the photo timeline. The wedding office should confirm the photographer's arrival point rather than assuming the main guest entrance. At a January wedding here, the coordinator sent the photographer to the vendor and staff entrance.

At a wedding here in January 2026, the couple's Royalton coordinator confirmed that Kristina should enter through the vendor and staff entrance, with the wedding office coordinating access. Reconfirm the current entrance and registration instructions before every wedding.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Royalton Riviera Cancun faces the Caribbean to the east, so the sun sets inland, behind the resort. Plan portraits for the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset on your date. Sunset runs from about 6:10 to 6:30 p.m. in winter to about 7:30 p.m. in summer. A January wedding here held beach couple portraits at 4:15 p.m., after a 3:00 p.m. ceremony.

No. The Caribbean is on the sunrise side. Sunset falls inland, so we use the late-afternoon light for portraits without describing it as a sun-dropping-into-the-water location.
