Hyatt Ziva sits on the very tip of Punta Cancun with ocean on three sides — which, for photography, means light and water in every direction at every hour. Its Cliff Gazebo is one of the most dramatic ceremony backdrops in Cancun, and the resort’s scale makes it one of the few that hosts multi-day South Asian celebrations properly.
We know this property deeply: we photographed a full Mehndi, Hindu ceremony and Sangeet night here — 234 delivered images across three days — along with classic weddings at the cliff. Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Cliff Gazebo
An open-water ceremony setting for up to 200 guests. The horizon is clean, but the gazebo is exposed to wind and direct afternoon light.
Lighthouse Gazebo
A smaller open-air gazebo option with water around the peninsula. It is visually strong but exposed, so ceremony time matters for both light and wind.
Turquoize Lawn
A grass ceremony option that avoids sand and gives easier movement for guests and cameras. It remains an open-air location with little protection from direct sun.
Sahara Beach
A true beach setup with bright reflective sand and open water. Expect wind and stronger contrast earlier in the afternoon.

First look — yes or no?
Recommended for larger weddings. Ziva’s event schedule tends to be busy, and a first look guarantees your portraits regardless of how the ceremony runs. For multi-day South Asian events we plan portraits per event — the Mehndi light and the ceremony light are different animals.
Logistics worth knowing
Hyatt currently lists about 30 minutes from Cancun International Airport. Parking is officially described as guest-only and subject to availability. At one wedding here the coordinator arranged the photographer's arrival through the wedding office; at another, the couple was told there was no photographer parking and the coordinator arranged a vendor meal.
Vendor rules at Hyatt Ziva Cancun
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Outside photographers are accepted. Access should be coordinated in advance with the resort wedding team so the photographer can be properly registered for the wedding day. Photographer arrival is usually coordinated through the wedding office. Parking should be confirmed separately, as the resort may not provide vendor parking.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Hyatt Ziva sits on the Punta Cancun peninsula, which gives the property both Caribbean-facing and bay-facing water. Use the Caribbean side for sunrise light and the western bay side for sunset. Plan portraits in the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset, roughly 5:20-6:25 p.m. in Nov-Feb and 6:25-7:30 p.m. in Jun-Aug.

Questions couples ask about Hyatt Ziva Cancun
Can we bring our own photographer to Hyatt Ziva Cancun?
Yes. Hyatt Ziva Cancun accepts outside photographers. Access should be coordinated in advance with the resort wedding team so the photographer can be properly registered for the wedding day.
Can our photographer park at the resort?
Do not assume so. Hyatt's current FAQ describes parking as guest-only, and a couple marrying here was told there was no photographer parking.
Where is the best sunset light?
Use the western, bay-facing side of the Punta Cancun peninsula. The Caribbean-facing side gives the opposite orientation and works for sunrise.
Does Hyatt provide a vendor meal for the photographer?
At a wedding here the coordinator sent meal options and asked when the photographer wanted to eat, but it is not automatic. Confirm it in your own wedding plan.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at Hyatt Ziva Cancun?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film. Most couples marrying at Hyatt Ziva Cancun book 6-8 hours, so the coverage reaches from getting ready to the party. Travel to this venue is included or minimal, we are local.
