NIZUC Wedding Photographer
Secluded luxury resort at Punta Nizuc with two private beaches, contemporary Mayan-inspired design and refined event venues.
NIZUC occupies its own peninsula at Punta Nizuc, at the southern tip of the Cancun hotel zone. It has two private beaches and a quiet that no other Cancun resort matches. The architecture is contemporary and Mayan-inspired: stone walls, long wooden colonnades, reflecting pools and mangroves all around. This is the luxury end of Cancun, without the strip.
I have photographed a wedding and an engagement session here. The wedding moved from a suite with carved wooden screens to a ceremony on a wooden deck framed by trees, and then to a reception indoors. The session used the reflecting pools, the stone walls and the private dock over turquoise water. NIZUC does not sell wedding packages: every wedding is designed piece by piece, and the resort is not all-inclusive.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
NIZUC Beach
Listed for about 350 guests for a ceremony and 250 for a reception. Open sand and Caribbean water, the largest oceanfront option on the property.
The sheltered beach and the Private Dock
A calm, shallow beach on the sheltered side, with a long wooden dock over turquoise water. The dock is listed for very small ceremonies of about 30. In our session the sun went down over the water here, which is rare in Cancun.
A'Kan Terrace
Wraps a large amate tree close to the lobby, listed for about 150 guests for a ceremony. The resort markets ocean and sunset views here. It gives more structure and shade than open sand.
NIZUC Garden
A broad lawn beside the mangroves, listed for about 250 guests. Useful for a green, formal ceremony, and for portraits when the beach is windy.
Reflecting pools and wooden decks
Shallow pools with wooden decks and low walls run through the property. They gave the session its calmest frames, and the wedding its portraits after the ceremony.
Colonnades and stone walls
Long wooden colonnades with white floors, carved screens and pale stone walls. They work as shade on a bright afternoon, and as a private corner for a first look.
Sian Ka'an Ballroom
An indoor ballroom listed for about 350 guests, with tall windows and a high ceiling. It is the strongest rain plan on the property.
Terra Nostra Terrace
A terrace over a reflecting pool and the mangroves, listed for about 180 guests at dinner. Good for a reception or an after-party with depth and evening light.

Recommended. The colonnades give a first look shade and privacy, and doing it early leaves the last light for the dock and the beach.
Logistics worth knowing
NIZUC sits at Punta Nizuc, at the southern end of Cancun's hotel zone, close to Cancun airport. It has 274 suites and villas across about 29 acres, so moving from the suite to the ceremony and the reception takes real time. In our wedding the couple left the reception by golf cart. Outside photographers do work here. NIZUC does not publish its vendor rules, so confirm the fee, the credentials and the entry procedure with the events team or your planner.

- Kristina has photographed a wedding and rehearsal dinner here, so outside photographers do work at NIZUC. The resort does not publish a current outside-photographer fee or a complete vendor-access policy on its public wedding pages, and what couples are told has varied a lot from one booking to another. Confirm the current fee, approval, credentials, insurance and entry procedure in writing with your coordinator.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
NIZUC is not a simple east-facing beach. Its peninsula has a sheltered side, and the resort markets sunset views at A'Kan Terrace, NIZUC Beach and the Private Dock. In our session the sun set over the water from the sheltered side. Keep the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits, and confirm which space the light reaches on your date. The reflecting pools and gardens give soft, even light earlier in the afternoon.

Have you photographed at NIZUC?
Yes. Kristina photographed a wedding and its rehearsal dinner at NIZUC, so the property, the movement between spaces and the light are familiar ground.
Does NIZUC have wedding packages?
No. NIZUC does not sell wedding packages and is not all-inclusive. Each wedding is designed piece by piece with the events team: the venue, the dinner, the flowers and the rest are priced separately. That is why there is no published starting price. Ask the events team for a proposal for your guest count and date.
Does NIZUC charge an outside-photographer fee?
There is no public tariff, and what couples have been told has changed from one year and one booking to another. The resort sets any fee and the rules that come with it. Confirm both in writing with the events team for your date.
Where is the ceremony usually held at NIZUC?
On NIZUC Beach, at A'Kan Terrace, in the garden, on the Private Dock for a very small group, or in the Sian Ka'an Ballroom. The ceremony in my gallery here was on a wooden deck framed by trees, with the reception indoors.
Where is best for sunset portraits?
The sheltered side of the peninsula. NIZUC markets sunset views at A'Kan Terrace, NIZUC Beach and the Private Dock, and in our session the sun set over the water there. Confirm the light for your exact space and date.
What is the rain plan at NIZUC?
The Sian Ka'an Ballroom, with tall windows and room for about 350. Agree on it with the events team before the day, so the call is quick. Rain here is usually a short storm, and the colonnades keep portraits possible under cover.
Can we use a drone?
No current official public drone rule was found in the material reviewed. Because NIZUC is close to Cancun International Airport, do not assume a drone is permitted even if the resort approves the idea. Confirm property permission and applicable aviation rules before planning any aerial coverage.
How much movement time should we allow?
More than at a compact boutique hotel. NIZUC spreads 274 suites and villas, two beaches, terraces, gardens and a ballroom across a large peninsula. Keep transfer time between getting ready, the ceremony, the portraits and the reception.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at NIZUC Resort & Spa?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film.
