Garza Blanca Los Cabos sits on the tourist corridor between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, where the Sonoran desert meets the Sea of Cortez. It is a completely different photographic environment from the Caribbean: dramatic rock formations, desert light and — critically — a sun that sets over the water rather than behind the land.
That single geographic fact changes the whole timeline. On the Riviera Maya the sun sets inland and the sea goes flat at dusk; in Los Cabos we can photograph straight into a sunset over the ocean, which is why couples who have seen both often prefer the light here.

Beach
Direct oceanfront ceremony and reception option. Kristina photographed a real 4:30 p.m. beach ceremony here in October 2024, followed by family and couple portraits before sunset.
Orange Tree
Iconic open-air setting with ocean views, best suited to cocktails and smaller dinners. a October wedding here used Orange Tree for cocktail hour immediately after the beach ceremony.
The Rooftop
Elevated private-event area with broad ocean views. Garza Blanca's official current event page specifically describes it as one of the best places on the property to enjoy sunset.
Pool Atrium
Open-air event space above the main pool with ocean views. Useful when a couple wants a resort setting without placing the entire celebration directly in sand.
Ballroom / Sky Room
Climate-controlled option for larger events and weather backup. Current Garza Blanca material lists the new Sky Room for up to 200 seated guests, while specialist wedding sources publish different capacities for other ballroom configurations. Confirm the exact contracted room.

Optional. Because the sun sets over the water here, the end-of-day window is genuinely spectacular and worth protecting — a first look earlier means you can spend all of it on couple portraits rather than family groups.
Logistics worth knowing
Garza Blanca Los Cabos is on the tourist corridor at Carretera Transpeninsular Km 17.5 between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The official resort FAQ places Los Cabos International Airport about 39 km away, approximately a 30-minute drive. At a wedding here, external production began well before guest arrival, with tent setup starting two days earlier and wedding-day venue setup from 9:00 a.m. That production schedule was wedding-specific and should not be treated as a universal vendor arrival rule.
Vendor rules at Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Outside photographers and production vendors are accepted. Kristina has photographed a wedding here, alongside an external planner, DJ, florist, rentals, tent production, entertainment and other outside vendors. The venue does not publish a current amount, so confirm any vendor/access charge directly with the Groups & Weddings team.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Garza Blanca Los Cabos has strong western sunset opportunities. Protect the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits. At a wedding here, the planner scheduled the beach ceremony at 4:30 p.m., portraits after the 5:00 p.m. ceremony finish, and recorded sunset at approximately 6:03 p.m. For 2026 dates, early October sunset in the Los Cabos area is around 6:35-6:40 p.m. depending on the exact location and local clock reference, so calculate the exact wedding date rather than reusing a historical time.
