Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort
Family-friendly all-inclusive resort in Costa Mujeres with a long white-sand beach, gazebo and lawn venues, and golf-course backdrops.
Dreams Playa Mujeres is the family-friendly anchor of the Playa Mujeres resort corridor — a big, polished property on Cancun’s quiet northern coast whose event lawns and ocean-view terraces host some of the most-searched weddings in the region. Couples find it constantly; our job is knowing it better than anyone photographing it.
This is a golf-cart resort: the distances are real, and the difference between a smooth photo timeline and a rushed one here is exactly the buffer time we build in.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Beach Gazebo
A beachfront ceremony structure with a Caribbean background and a wooden platform. Current wedding sources list approximately 150 guests. Family groups photograph well by this gazebo.
Beach
The largest direct-ocean ceremony option. Current wedding sources publish roughly 300 to 350 guests depending on the floor plan, so confirm the final setup with the coordinator. It is fully exposed to sun, wind and resort beach activity.
Over the Water
An elevated ceremony platform over the water, currently listed for approximately 80 guests. A venue fee applies. It creates a cleaner water backdrop than the main beach but is still exposed to wind and direct light.
Presidential Suite Terrace
A more private terrace option currently listed for approximately 80 guests. One couple here used the Presidential Suite as part of the wedding-day setup.
Paramount Suite Oceanview Rooftop
A private elevated option for a smaller wedding, currently listed around 60 guests. Current specialist venue information requires the Paramount Suite to be reserved for at least two nights.
Central Garden
Large open-air lawn currently listed for up to approximately 350 guests. It offers more room for staging and reception production but is central within the resort, so it is less isolated from general property movement.
A photo timeline that works here
Based on a winter ceremony (sunset ≈ 6 pm). I adjust it to your date and your venue coordinator's schedule.
- 1:30 pm
- Getting ready — we start earlier here: moving around this resort is done by golf cart, and we build that time in
- 3:00 pm
- Bride portraits and first look
- 4:00 pm
- Ceremony
- 4:40 pm
- Family and group photos before anyone scatters
- 5:05 pm
- Golf cart to the best photo spots — couple session in the golden hour
- 6:15 pm
- Reception entrance and first dance
- 8:00 pm
- Open dance floor and party
First look — yes or no?
Recommended. On a resort this size, a first look de-risks the whole timeline: portraits secured early, and the golden hour reserved for the shots that need it.
Logistics worth knowing
Dreams Playa Mujeres is inside the gated Playa Mujeres community north of Cancun. Hyatt currently lists the resort about 45 minutes from Cancun International Airport. The property has more than 500 suites and multiple separated event locations, so build transition time into the timeline. A July wedding here ran from getting ready into a 5:00 p.m. ceremony, family photographs, a dedicated late-afternoon portrait window and reception coverage. Other weddings here have moved between getting-ready suites, the Beach Gazebo area, reception spaces and the beach.
Vendor rules at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Outside photographers are accepted. Kristina has photographed several weddings here, with access coordinated around the resort timeline as usual. The resort does not publish its outside vendor fee, so confirm the amount and the registration procedure in writing with the resort wedding team before booking.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Playa Mujeres faces the Caribbean, so sunrise comes over the water and sunset falls inland. Protect the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits rather than expecting the sun to set over the sea. Cancun sunsets run roughly 6:17-6:35 p.m. through January and about 7:25-7:33 p.m. in June. Use the exact wedding date when building the timeline.

Questions couples ask about Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort
Can we bring our own photographer to Dreams Playa Mujeres?
Yes. Kristina has photographed several weddings at the resort. Outside-vendor charges may apply, so have the wedding coordinator confirm the current photography fee and registration procedure in writing.
How much is the outside photographer fee?
The resort does not publish a current amount. Outside-vendor charges do exist here, so ask the wedding team for the exact photography charge tied to your package and date.
Which ceremony location works for a larger wedding?
The main Beach and Central Garden are the largest current options. Published capacities vary slightly by source and setup, so use the resort's final floor plan for the actual guest-count limit.
Can we have a more private ceremony than the main beach?
Yes. The Presidential Suite Terrace, Paramount Suite rooftop and Over the Water venue are smaller alternatives. Some require a suite booking or additional venue fee.
Where does the sun set at Dreams Playa Mujeres?
Behind the resort rather than over the Caribbean. The best late-day portrait window is still the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset, but the water is the sunrise side.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at Dreams Playa Mujeres?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film. Most couples marrying at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort book 6-8 hours, so the coverage reaches from getting ready to the party. Travel to this venue is included or minimal, we are local. To see where I would begin for your date, the collections live at /pricing/.
How much time do photos need at Dreams Playa Mujeres?
More than at compact venues — this is a golf-cart resort, and moving between the suites, lawn and beach takes real time. Our timelines build in ~25-minute transfers so nothing feels rushed; with 6–8 hours of coverage the day flows comfortably.
