Playa Mujeres Wedding Photographer

Playa Mujeres is the quiet northern end of Cancun. It is a gated stretch of coast past the hotel zone, facing Isla Mujeres. The resorts are new, some of them very large, and the beach is wider and calmer than anything on the strip. The sand faces east, so the sun comes up over the water and goes down behind the resorts. Ceremonies here get soft late-afternoon light rather than a sunset over the sea. The last hour before dark is when the portraits happen.

On the biggest resorts the distances are what I plan around. Dreams Playa Mujeres is where I have photographed the most. It has a beach gazebo, a central lawn and a platform out over the water for smaller ceremonies. Finest Playa Mujeres has the Stone Gazebo you have seen on my home page, and sharp architecture that photographs clean at any hour. Garza Blanca is the tower in Punta Sam. Its sky terraces look both east and west, and its venues sit close together, so I never feel the clock there. ATELIER is the adults-only, art-filled option. Its interiors give a wedding gallery an editorial chapter the beach cannot. Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres and TRS Coral share one enormous complex with a Catholic chapel, which is why many couples choose it. Excellence Playa Mujeres keeps the calm of an adults-only beach, with fewer resorts on the shoreline.

On the larger resorts the distances are real, so a first look is almost always my recommendation. It secures the portraits early and keeps the golden hour for the beach or the rooftop.
