Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres is a large resort complex on Cancun’s northern coast, shared with TRS Coral, with calm water, wide gardens and a long list of wedding spaces. It is one of the few resorts here with its own Catholic chapel, and that is why many couples choose it.
The weddings I have photographed here used three different settings. One was a full Catholic ceremony in the chapel, with its glass walls and golden altar. Another was on the beach under a white pergola, and another on a terrace above the sea. Between them, I photographed portraits in the gardens and under the resort’s white sculpted architecture.

Nuestra Señora del Rocío Catholic Chapel
A modern chapel with glass walls, a white arched entrance and a golden altar, listed for about 80 guests seated. I have photographed a full Catholic ceremony here, and the light inside is soft and even.
Beach with Pergola
The main beach venue, with a white pergola, listed for up to about 300 guests for a ceremony. One of our ceremonies here was on the sand, under a pergola dressed in white fabric and flowers.
Deck by the Beach
A wooden-floor beach setting, listed for about 100 guests. It keeps the oceanfront look while giving the ceremony a firmer surface than the sand.
Poseidon Terrace
An outdoor terrace for a cocktail hour or reception, listed for about 80 to 100 guests. Kristina has worked here.
Poseidon Glassroom
A glass-enclosed room with greenery and sea views, listed for about 150 guests. It works for a ceremony or reception, and as a covered option if it rains.
Deck in The Village
A deck in The Village plaza with the Costa Mujeres lake behind it, listed for about 200 to 250 guests. Architecture and water, without a sand ceremony.
Gardens and sculpted architecture
Lawns with palms, and the resort’s white sculpted structures with curved ribs that frame a portrait. I have used both for first looks and couple portraits here.
Convention Center and ballroom
Indoor spaces for large receptions, the largest listed for several hundred guests, with a minimum guest count. Also the rain plan for a big wedding.

Recommended. On a complex this size — especially with a chapel ceremony, which runs to a fixed schedule — a first look is what keeps the portrait time from being squeezed.
Logistics worth knowing
Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres is about 30 minutes from Cancun International Airport. It is a large complex shared with TRS Coral, with several hotels and separate zones. A golf-cart shuttle runs between areas, and some are a long walk apart, so build transfer time into the photo timeline. A common shape here is a ceremony on the TRS-side terrace and a reception in the Poseidon room, both of which Kristina knows. The Poseidon Glassroom, the ballroom and the chapel are the covered options if it rains.

- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
For the beach, beach deck and open terraces, favor the final part of the afternoon and reserve the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits. Costa Mujeres is on the Caribbean side, so do not promise an ocean-horizon sunset from the beach. The complex has inland-facing, lake and architectural backgrounds as well, which gives more flexibility than relying only on the beach.
