Garza Blanca Cancun is a modern tower resort at Punta Sam, north of Cancun, across the water from Isla Mujeres. It is all white and bright, and its wedding spaces sit close together, from the beach to the rooftop.
The wedding I have published here shows both sides of it. The first look was in the lobby, among white columns and warm lights, and the portraits moved to the resort’s vintage carousel. The ceremony was on the beach, under a green floral arch between the palms. The dinner was on a deck among the palms, under string lights.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Cocos Beach
The main beach venue, listed for about 200 to 300 guests depending on the setup. Our ceremony here was on the sand under a green floral arch, with palms on both sides and the water behind.
The carousel
A real vintage carousel at the front of the resort. It is my favourite portrait spot here: warm, playful and unlike anything else on this coast.
Lobby
White columns, high ceilings and warm lights. A bright, quiet place for the first look and the wedding-party photos.
Suites with balconies
Bright white suites with balconies, hammocks and long views. A good setting for the getting-ready portraits.
Elite Terrace
An elevated, more intimate outdoor option, listed for around 100 to 120 guests for a ceremony.
Tierra Luna Forum
An open-air event space for larger ceremonies and receptions, listed for about 200 guests for a ceremony.
Sky Room
The rooftop event room with ocean views, listed for about 200 to 250 guests. It is also the rain plan, and it can stay open later than the outdoor venues.
Beach Deck
A smaller deck by the beach and the pool for a more intimate event, listed for about 40 guests for a reception.

Extra ceremony guests are charged per person, and reception prices vary between sources, so they are shown as ranges. Confirm everything with the resort’s wedding team, in writing, for your date.

First look — yes or no?
Recommended. The lobby gives a first look privacy and soft light, and the carousel is right there for portraits. That leaves the last light free for the beach.
Logistics worth knowing
Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun is on the road to Punta Sam, north of Cancun, about 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport. The wedding spaces sit close together, so less coverage time goes to moving between them than at more spread-out resorts. The resort does not sell general day passes, so outside vendors are registered through the wedding team in advance. The Sky Room is the rain plan.
Vendor rules at Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Garza Blanca's official 2026 website says the resort does not offer general day passes to non-staying guests. Wedding vendors should therefore be preregistered through the wedding team rather than assuming normal guest access. Kristina has photographed weddings at Garza Blanca.
- These rules belong to the resort, not to me. The resort sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the resort to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Garza Blanca faces the water to the east, so the sun sets inland, behind the tower. Plan portraits for the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset on your date. Right after sunset, the sky over the water often turns pink, and a few minutes on the sand are worth it. Sunset is around 6:10 p.m. in December and about 7:30 p.m. in summer, so a first look helps most in winter.

Can we bring our own photographer to Garza Blanca Cancun?
Yes. Outside vendors work there and Kristina has photographed weddings at Garza Blanca. Confirm the current vendor registration and fee with the wedding department.
Is there an outside photographer fee?
The venue does not publish a current amount, and older resort guides are not a safe guide to what applies today. Ask the wedding coordinator to confirm the current wedding-date rate. It is also worth asking about a waiver: this property has exempted the fee when the team stays on site.
Can the outside-vendor fee be waived?
Possibly, but do not assume it. A 2025 resort guide allowed the fee to be avoided when the outside vendor stayed at the hotel for at least three nights, and a couple planning here in 2026 was told that booking through a particular travel agency waived certain vendor fees. Ask for the exact current terms in writing.
Can a photographer just buy a normal day pass?
Do not plan on that. Garza Blanca's official current website says the resort does not offer general day passes to non-staying guests. Wedding vendor access should be arranged separately through the wedding department.

The main wedding areas sit close to one another, so less coverage time is lost in transitions than at very spread-out resorts.
What is the rain plan at Garza Blanca Cancun?
The Sky Room, the rooftop event space with ocean views. Agree on it with the coordinator before the day, so the call on the morning is quick. Rain here is usually a short storm, and a few dry minutes are often enough for portraits outside.
How late can the party go at Garza Blanca Cancun?
The outdoor venues are listed until about 10 or 11 p.m., and the Sky Room later. Confirm the end time for your venue with the coordinator, in writing.
