Ak'iin Beach
Private beachfront event venue in Tulum's hotel zone, a longtime favorite for barefoot ceremonies on white sand with the jungle at your back.
Ak’iin Beach is Tulum distilled: a beach club on the white-sand stretch of the hotel zone where weddings happen barefoot, the jungle meets the sand, and nothing feels corporate. We have photographed weddings here across the years — it remains one of the most naturally photogenic venues on the entire coast.
The intimacy is the point. Everything happens within a few steps: ceremony on the sand, dinner under palms, dancing under string lights. For photography that means zero transfer time and a timeline that can chase the light instead of a schedule.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Beach
The primary Tulum oceanfront setting, currently listed for weddings up to 200 guests. It gives the strongest Caribbean background but is completely exposed to wind, bright sand and weather.
Main Palapa
Covered event space with a wooden deck and glass windows facing the sea. Current venue information lists approximately 100 seated guests.
Secondary Palapa / Beach Lounge Areas
Ak'iin has two palapas and flexible beach areas that can separate cocktail, dinner and party zones. Historical weddings show the spaces being divided into ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing while staying within one private venue.

Rarely needed. Everything is steps apart and the light stays workable late, so ceremony-first timelines flow naturally. If you want a private moment before the vows, the jungle path entrance gives a beautiful, hidden first look.
Logistics worth knowing
Ak'iin Beach Club is at Carretera Tulum/Boca Paila Km 9.5 in the Tulum Hotel Zone. It does not provide guest lodging. Current venue information lists parking, one wedding/event per day and an event time limit of 1:00 a.m. Tulum is commonly planned as roughly 1.5-2 hours from Cancun International Airport, but Hotel Zone traffic can increase transfer time significantly. Build more buffer than the highway-only drive estimate.
Vendor rules at Ak'iin Beach
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Current venue information says Ak'iin has no photographer exclusivity. Independent photographers and production teams are widely documented at weddings there, and Kristina has photographed two weddings at Ak'iin. No current public outside-photographer fee schedule was found, so confirm any access or vendor charge directly with Ak'iin before the wedding.
- These rules belong to the venue, not to me. The venue sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the venue to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
Ak'iin is directly on Tulum's east-facing Caribbean beach. Sunrise comes over the water; sunset falls inland behind the beach road/jungle side. Protect the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset for portraits, and use sunrise if the couple specifically wants direct warm light over the ocean. In January, Tulum sunset runs roughly 6:20-6:40 p.m.; in June it is around 7:30 p.m.

Can we bring our own photographer to Ak'iin?
