Azulik Tulum
Adults-only eco-resort famous for its organic treehouse architecture, wooden walkways and dramatic sunset views over the jungle and sea.
Azulik is unlike anything else on this coast: an adults-only eco-resort built from curved wood, vines and hand-shaped concrete, with treehouse villas suspended in the jungle canopy and walkways that ask you to go barefoot. There is deliberately no electricity in the villas — the light is candlelight and daylight, which changes how a wedding day is photographed here.
We have photographed engagement and boudoir sessions in these spaces, and the architecture does half the work: the organic curves, the macramé, the filtered jungle light. The other half is knowing where the sun lands as it drops behind the canopy, because Azulik loses direct light earlier than the open beach.

El Mirador del Maestro
The strongest sunset venue in the AZULIK brochure - a suspended jungle rooftop with panoramic 360-degree views, for up to 130 people. It is also their most expensive.
La Copa del Pintor
Circular aerial venue about 14 meters above the jungle, with jungle and Caribbean views, for up to 30 people. The brochure frames sunset as part of the experience.
Mantli
Intimate cocoon-like architectural venue for private celebrations, for up to 30 people.

First look — yes or no?
Recommended. The canopy blocks direct sun earlier than the open beach, so the workable portrait window is shorter than couples expect. A first look on a deck in mid-afternoon guarantees the images rather than racing the light.
Logistics worth knowing
AZULIK Tulum is in the Tulum Hotel Zone around Carretera Tulum-Ruinas Km 5. Its wedding experiences can span beachfront, elevated rooftops, jungle architecture and AZULIK UH MAY, so do not treat every AZULIK wedding as one compact resort timeline. Confirm whether the ceremony, portraits, cocktails and reception are all at AZULIK Tulum or whether any portion is at UH MAY/another AZULIK property, then build transport and access time accordingly.
Vendor rules at Azulik Tulum

- AZULIK's current official wedding package contains a dedicated 'External Vendors Fee' section, indicating that outside-vendor access is contemplated. The exact current photography fee was not recoverable from the public PDF text, so confirm the amount, team-size rules and required credentials directly with AZULIK before publishing a number.
- These rules belong to the hotel, not to me. The hotel sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the hotel to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
AZULIK requires venue-specific light planning. The Deck faces the Caribbean, so it is a sunrise-side ocean venue and should not be sold as an over-water sunset location. For sunset, the official brochure specifically positions El Mirador del Maestro and La Copa del Pintor as elevated sunset experiences. El Mirador's 360-degree rooftop is the strongest option when the visible setting sun and warm western sky matter. Jungle, dome and architectural spaces can fall into shade substantially earlier than an open beach, so build portraits around the exact venue rather than only the published sunset time.

Does the Deck show sunset over the Caribbean?
No. The Deck faces the Caribbean, which is the sunrise side. Use it for ocean views and soft late-afternoon light, but use an elevated western/360-degree venue when a visible sunset matters.
How do the ceremony venues differ?
