The Beach Tulum Hotel
Adults-only beachfront boutique hotel in the heart of the Tulum hotel zone, with swim-up suites and an intimate stretch of beach.
The Beach Tulum sits right in the heart of the hotel zone: adults-only, swim-up suites and an oceanfront terrace that opens directly onto the sand. It is one of the most straightforward venues in Tulum to photograph — everything happens within a few steps, and the beach in front is one of the better stretches for a ceremony.
We have photographed both weddings and maternity sessions here. The advantage is simplicity: no transfers, no coordination between distant spaces, and a timeline that can chase the light instead of a schedule.
Where to say “I do” — and how each spot photographs
Private Beach
The current Full Rent Out wedding option explicitly includes a private beach ceremony. The hotel has a 90-meter private shoreline, giving a compact oceanfront route without the transfer time of a large resort. It is east-facing, so use sunrise for literal sun-over-water or softened late-afternoon/blue-hour color rather than promising an ocean sunset.
Ziggy / Beachfront Reception Area
The Beach Tulum and neighboring/on-site Ziggy wedding operation currently market beachfront weddings, custom menus, decor, ceremony coordination and reception events. The main hotel wedding page says its restaurant can seat up to 200. Confirm whether the contracted reception is hotel restaurant, Ziggy, a beach setup or a full-buyout configuration because access/privacy changes with the package.
Palapa
A wedding here included photographs inside the palapa, where the light runs strongly orange after dark. Treat that as real experience rather than a statement of the palapa's current capacity or package name. Expect warm mixed light after dark.
Beachfront Guest Rooms
All current hotel rooms face the sea. Coverage here has started in the bride's room before moving to the beach. Rooms can make getting-ready logistics very efficient, but current professional/vendor access must still be registered in advance.
Rooftop Rooms / Terraces
Current Rooftop room category has large private terraces and hot tubs. Visually useful for getting-ready or couple portraits when the booked room allows it, but do not promise rooftop access unless the couple has that room and the wedding team has hotel approval.

Optional. With everything a few steps apart, a ceremony-first timeline works well if you marry by 4:30 pm in winter. Later than that, a first look protects the golden hour.
Logistics worth knowing
The Beach Tulum is a compact 28-room adults-only hotel at Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila km 7.2 with a 90-meter private shoreline. Current policy restricts normal hotel access to registered guests but allows pre-registered outside vendors under a separate access process: provide the vendor name in advance, pay the published general vendor-access fee for independently booked services, and register at the front desk. For a wedding photographer, confirm whether the wedding package uses the same fee because current wedding packages can include photography. Full buyout weddings are currently published for 60–120 guests and are the stated exception that can allow children; restaurant seating is published up to 200.
Vendor rules at The Beach Tulum Hotel
- Outside photographers: Accepted
- Drone: no
- The current official FAQ says outside vendors must be registered in advance with the hotel, the guest must provide the vendor's name, and the vendor must check in at the front desk on arrival. Access is limited in number. The hotel normally restricts property access to registered guests, so do not arrive without wedding/concierge authorization. Current hotel policy prohibits drones on property.
- These rules belong to the hotel, not to me. The hotel sets the fee, charges it and changes it, often from one season to the next and sometimes from one wedding to the next, so I do not publish an amount here: any number you find online is already out of date for your date. Ask your wedding coordinator at the hotel to confirm it in writing, and ask early: it is a real line in the budget. It is also worth asking whether there is any flexibility. Some venues waive or reduce the fee, often when the vendor team books rooms for a few nights or when the wedding is booked through certain agencies, and plenty of couples never find out because they never ask.

The light here
The Beach Tulum faces the Caribbean, so sunrise is the literal sun-over-water window. For an evening wedding, the final 45 to 60 minutes before sunset still bring softer flattering light on the beach, but the sun itself sets inland. Keep a short beach portrait block before dusk, then transition quickly to reception/palapa coverage where warm mixed light becomes the dominant technical issue.

What is the outside-vendor arrangement?
The hotel publishes a general access fee for independently booked outside vendors such as photo sessions, makeup and hairstyling, with advance registration and check-in at the front desk. Because its wedding packages can include professional photography, ask whether an outside wedding photographer falls under that same arrangement or a separate wedding one, and confirm the amount with the hotel.
Can we fly a drone?
No under the current official hotel policy. The Beach Tulum says drones are not permitted on property for privacy, comfort and safety. A drone was flown here years ago, but that is not current permission.
How many guests can a wedding have?
The current Full Rent Out package is published for 60–120 guests, while the hotel says its restaurant can seat up to 200. Partial Rent Out does not publish a maximum on the current page. Use the capacity tied to the exact contracted layout rather than one universal number.
Can children attend?
The hotel is normally adults-only, 18+. Current terms state that a total buyout of all 28 rooms is the exception to the no-children policy, and the Full Rent Out wedding page specifically says there is no age limit during the buyout. Confirm this in the group/wedding contract.
Is sunset over the ocean?
No. The Tulum beach faces the Caribbean/east, so sunrise is over the sea and sunset is inland. Evening beach portraits still benefit from softer light and pastel/blue-hour sky, but do not promise the sun dropping into the ocean.
How much does a wedding photographer cost at The Beach Tulum?
Experienced destination wedding photographers in this area generally run from about $3,000 to $8,000 USD for the wedding day, and more for multi-day celebrations with film.
