Tulum photoshoot
On the beach, in a cenote or at your hotel. The same light and the same eye as the weddings.
20 sessions · 6 kinds
A photoshoot in Tulum works best in the late afternoon. The beach faces east, so in the evening the sun sets inland, behind the hotels, and the sand turns soft and even. I start most sessions here around 4 p.m. in winter and 5 p.m. in summer, so they end in the last light before sunset.
The setting is the other decision. The beach is the obvious one, and it is beautiful at both ends of the day. A cenote gives you clear water, limestone and a completely different mood. Many of the sessions below were photographed at the couple’s own hotel.

Questions about a photoshoot in Tulum
What is the best time of day for a photoshoot in Tulum?
Late afternoon: around 4 p.m. in winter and 5 p.m. in summer, depending on the sunset that season. Tulum’s beach faces east, so in the evening the sun sets inland, behind the hotels, and the beach gets soft, even light. Midday light is hard on faces, so I plan around it.
Where can we do a photoshoot in Tulum?
On the beach, in a cenote or at your own hotel. Most of the sessions on this page were photographed at the couple’s hotel. One of them moved between the beach and a cenote in the same morning.
Can we do the session at our hotel?
Yes, and it is often the easiest option. Some hotels have rules for outside photographers, and a few charge a fee. That is set by the hotel, so it is worth asking the front desk or your concierge before the day.
Is sargassum a problem for a beach session in Tulum?
It can be. Sargassum changes from year to year, from beach to beach and week to week. If it arrives, we photograph at your hotel, in a cenote or on a stretch of beach that is clear that morning.
What kinds of sessions do you photograph in Tulum?
Engagements and proposals, maternity, family sessions, boudoir, bachelorettes, and couples who simply want photographs of their trip. Each one is on this page, with its full gallery.
